La destacada publicación musical inglesa UNCUT encargó la tarea de reconstruir la historia de los 101 discos más extraños que se han publicado, un trabajo delirante y fascinante que recorre sonidos que seguramente te van a sacar una buena mueca de gracias. Lo entretenido de la publicación es que entre estos 101 títulos hay un chileno, no podía ser de otra manera.
Se trata de Álvaro Peña y su producción de 1977 llamada Drinkin my own sperm, que salió publicada bajo el sello Squeaky Shoes y con nombre de ‘Alvaro the Chilean with the Singing Nose’. En su descripción la revista señala el disco de Peña como “un verdadero puzzle: Desde música de salón delirantemente deformada hasta movimientos anti-pop torpes”, rematando con la pregunta “¿realmente el inventó el punk?”.
La lista la encabeza el álbum A Wizard, A True Star de Todd Rundgren (1973). Entre los 101 artistas que aparecen destaca la inclusión de Lulu de Metallica y Lou Reed (2011), The Wedding Album de John y Yoko (1969), Mike Patton con Adult Themes For Voices (1996), 666 de Aphrodite’s Child (1972), Frank Zappa con Lumpy Gravy (1968) o The Beatles con Love publicado en 2011 como música del acto circense del mismo nombre del Cirque du Soleil. El listado se cierra en el lugar 101 el amado y odiado Final Cut de Pink Floyd, último trabajo de la banda británica con la firma de Roger Waters en 1983.
